About the House

Casita Roja is a single-story 3
bedroom, 2 bath house.  The floors
are ceramic tile and stone, as are the
countertops in the kitchen.  The
ceilings are high and help keep the
house cool.  There are electric ceiling
fans in all 3 bedrooms, and the
windows have insect screens.  The
property itself is walled for privacy,
with a wooden gate on the street
side. The beach side is open.  There
is a large covered patio on the beach
side.

The kitchen has a small two burner
gas stove, a microwave, toaster
oven, blender, and coffee-maker, as
well as a wide variety of kitchen
utensils, plates, glasses, cutlery, etc.
There is a modern large
refrigerator/freezer.

Both bath's have toilets, sinks, and
showers.  Hot water can be turned on
as needed with a boiler -- but
generally speaking it is a "cold water"
house.

The house has ample water storage
and supply, with its own cistern and
well.  Drinking water is bottled (first 5
gallons provided) and costs about
$2.00 for 5 gallons -- deliveries are
made to the house.

TV reception is limited.  There are no
landlines for telephone and/or
internet.  There are internet cafes in
Progreso -- we recommend Sharkies.
 Cellular phone reception at the
house is dubious at best, especially
for CDMA (US) based phones.

We do supply a DVD player, and
movies are easily rented or
purchased in Progreso.
